Description

This is actually an assignment we had at school (muahaha, got the top grade XD). We were supposed to paint a poster for a movie that had affected us in some way, in a style from the history of art.

Therefore I chose Metropolis, as it is one of the most impressive anime's I've ever seen, story made by Osamu Tezuka if I remember correctly.

Aaaand, as for the style, I chose Andy Warhols style of popart, which I feel fits very well.. I thought about how Tima is a robot, right? And that robots in Metropolis are massproduced, and therefore I thought And Warhols style would fit not only aestetically (as a very fitting style for me to be able to draw my poster pic in manga style), but also ideologically, since he often had that element of massproduction in his artworks, both to ridicule and praise the commersial society.. So that's why I chose it ^_^

Done in acrylic paint. I drew one simplified picture of Tima (looked at one of the movie's posters/covers) where I split her face's shadow and light and the backgroud into different areas and copied them (using a ... ehm.. "light table" (you know, glass with lightbulbs under) to copy the first one I drew) onto the a2 poster format (nine 16x16,7 cm squares). Then I painted it! It took 30 hours to finish painting it... XD *proud* It was exhausting, as the details were very very hard to paint ( I even had to cut my brush's hairs so it would be small enough to get the smallest spots painted too)

Took a picture of it with a digital camera and added the black frame to give it a nice finish ^_^ Nothing else done on pc.

Hope you like it!
